If you’ve followed Little Sunny Coast for a while, you’ve probably seen us mention Maroochydore Homemaker Centre more than once. It’s somewhere we visit regularly because, as mums with little kids, it just makes life easier.

There’s parent parking right near the entrance, undercover parking for those rainy Sunshine Coast days, two cafés where the kids can stop for a play, and even a low sensory playground. Add in stores like Baby Bunting, Mocka and Bed Bath N’ Table, and it’s easy to see why it became one of our regular spots after becoming mums.
When we filmed our recent giveaway, the idea was simple. If someone handed me a $200 voucher to spend at Maroochydore Homemaker Centre, where would I go?
My list was exactly what you’d expect. Mocka. Baby Bunting. Bed Bath N’ Table. Maybe a wander through School Locker while I was there. Looking back, almost every stop was somehow connected to my children.
Then we asked our community the same question. Reading through hundreds of comments completely changed the way I looked at the centre.
People weren’t just talking about children’s stores. They were planning a new lounge from Nick Scali, replacing appliances at Harvey Norman or Joyce Mayne, updating their dining room, shopping for homewares or finally buying something they’d been putting off for months. It made me realise that while I’d always thought of Maroochydore Homemaker Centre as somewhere that worked brilliantly for families with young kids, it’s actually somewhere that has something for almost everyone.
That’s probably why we keep coming back.
Yes, it’s incredibly practical with little ones in tow, but it’s also somewhere that grows with you. One visit might be all about a new car seat or birthday present, while the next is replacing a washing machine, finding a dining table or simply catching up over coffee while the kids play. It isn’t just a place to shop, it’s one of those places that quietly becomes part of family life.
Looking back, I think becoming mums is what introduced us to Maroochydore Homemaker Centre, but our community reminded us why it appeals to so many different people.
Whether you’re shopping for your home, your kids or yourself, it’s the kind of place where everyone seems to leave with exactly what they came for, and probably a little more than they planned.
