We’ve been going to YMCA’s Casual Gym Play sessions for a while now, and we absolutely love watching the kids gain more confidence each time. They can explore the gymnastics equipment at their own pace, climbing, jumping, swinging and rolling throughout the session.

These are unstructured play sessions rather than a coached gymnastics class, so parents and carers stay with their little ones and help them explore the equipment. It makes it a really nice option if you want to introduce them to gymnastics without committing to weekly classes.

I also love the atmosphere inside the gym. There are little ones everywhere testing their confidence and trying something new, and because the session only runs for an hour, it’s an easy activity to fit into the morning.

There are a few rows of stadium style seating inside, as well as tables outside if you want to stop for morning tea afterwards. When we visited, there were also limited drinks and snacks available to purchase.

There are two sessions to choose from depending on your little one’s age, with the earlier session designed for crawling little ones through to three years and the later session welcoming crawling little ones through to five years.

We visited February 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking YMCA Caloundra’s website or social media for current session times, pricing and booking requirements before visiting.
