Wildlife HQ surprised us with just how good it was with toddlers. So many of the animals can be spotted easily by little eyes, there’s plenty to explore at their pace, and you can make it a quick morning outing or spend hours wandering through.

Our little ones had such a good time exploring Wildlife HQ, spotting the animals up close and taking in everything around them. One of the things we really loved was how easy it was for them to see so many of the enclosures themselves, rather than constantly needing to be picked up.
There’s plenty to see as you wander through the zoo, with more than 50 species from around the world, plus animal feeds throughout the day and a daily reptile show. When we visited, one of our highlights was spotting the gorgeous baby gibbon clinging to its mum.
You can also add a ride on the iconic Big Pineapple Train, which departs every 30 minutes and travels through the Big Pineapple site to Wildlife HQ. Train and Zoo and Train combo tickets need to be purchased at the Big Pineapple rather than online.
We found the pram really handy when little legs needed a break. Just keep in mind that Wildlife HQ is set amongst natural gardens and rainforest style habitats, so while we found it pram friendly, the zoo does note that not every pathway is guaranteed to suit all prams and strollers.
There are plenty of shady spots throughout the zoo, and you can stop to grab something from the Zoo Food Truck, which currently opens from 10:30am – 1:30pm with light snacks, ice creams, tea, coffee and cold drinks.
We arrived right on 9am and found it lovely and quiet, with things starting to get busier around 10:30am, so an early start worked really well for us with little ones.
We visited July 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking Wildlife HQ’s website or social media for current pricing, opening hours, train information and animal experiences before visiting.
