If you’re looking for somewhere that keeps both the kids and the adults happy, The Doonan is one of our favourite spots to recommend.

The outdoor play area is what really makes this place stand out. There are two large trampolines, a jumping pillow, a rocket cubby house, climbing wall, creative play equipment and a huge grassy area with goal posts, giving kids plenty of space to run, jump and explore.

There is seating right alongside the play area too, making it easy to enjoy a meal while keeping an eye on the little ones.

One thing we always notice when we visit is how beautiful the grounds are. The lush gardens give the venue a relaxed feel, and if your little ones are curious, there’s also a herb garden to wander through together and even an Australian Native Stingless Bee hive that’s worth checking out.

We’ve eaten here several times now and always end up ordering pizza from the pizzeria. They’ve never disappointed us, but if pizza isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other options on the menu as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that the play area can get quite hot during the middle of the day as there isn’t much shade, apart from over the jumping pillow. If you’re visiting in summer, we’d recommend heading there earlier in the day or later in the afternoon.

Whether you’re catching up with friends, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for somewhere different to spend an afternoon, it’s definitely worth a visit.
