I often saw posts about the community garden in my local Facebook group, so I took my little one along to check it out and he LOVED it. There was so much growing when we visited, including pineapples and bananas, plus a friendly scarecrow and plenty of bees, which he was obsessed with.
Located next to the North Shore Multisports Complex and North Shore Community Centre, it’s a lovely little spot to explore if you want to teach your little one about what can grow in our gardens. So much is labelled with information about what you’re looking at, so I found myself learning along the way too.
You can’t pick produce from the garden unless you’ve helped grow it, but there is still plenty for little ones to look at and discover. There’s also a community composting hub where locals can contribute suitable food and garden waste.
The garden is run by volunteers, and you can also become a member and get involved in their regular working bees if you want to be part of the community.
We visited January 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking the business’s website or social media before visiting.
