We went into this one not really knowing what to expect and both came away so impressed. It was such an interesting way to introduce our little one to some important parts of our history, while giving him plenty to look at along the way.

I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant before visiting because there are weapons including guns and swords throughout the museum, but our little one showed almost no interest in those and was far more fascinated by the model boats and planes.

The museum has more than 100 years of military history on display, with uniforms, medals, photographs, models, memorabilia and other artefacts from different wars and conflicts, so there was plenty for us to look through together.

The staff were absolutely lovely when we visited and made the experience even better. The displays are also rotated, so you may find something different to see if you visit more than once.

Our little one was especially excited to leave with a patch and brooch when we visited, and it was one of those simple little extras that made the outing feel special for him.

It’s a great indoor option when you’re looking for something a little different to do with the kids, particularly if they’re interested in planes, boats or military history. You can also head across the road to Maroochy RSL afterwards if you want to grab something to eat or drink.

We visited March 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking the business’s website or social media before visiting.
