There is so much to explore here, but Whipbird Woods was definitely a favourite with our kids. The nature play area is tucked amongst the trees and includes a rope bridge, stepping logs, living cubbies and plenty of opportunities for climbing, balancing and exploring. There is also a Whipbird Walk where kids can search for hidden artworks and discover different parts of the surrounding bushland.

The gardens are also a beautiful spot to pack a picnic, with open grassy areas, plenty of natural shade and picnic tables and shelters throughout. You could easily find a spot to stop for lunch before heading off to explore another part of the gardens.

When we visited, we brought a scooter for our oldest and had our youngest in the pram. He loved scooting along the pathways, although it’s worth keeping in mind that some areas of the gardens have unsealed paths and are better explored on foot.

The Garden Café is another lovely addition and is run by The Compass Institute. We loved sitting beside the water feature, and the staff were so welcoming when we visited.

The gardens are huge, so we’d recommend grabbing a map and choosing a couple of areas to explore rather than trying to see everything at once. We explored the Sculpture Garden on one visit and Whipbird Woods on another, and there was still plenty left for us to come back and discover.

We visited January 2026. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking the business’s website or social media before visiting.
