Our little ones absolutely loved exploring the gardens and meeting all the animals. The Rose Garden was a favourite, with the kids stopping to look at all the different colours and smell almost every single rose.
The Farm Friends area was another highlight, with rescue guinea pigs and rabbits, miniature goats, baby doll sheep, donkeys, pigs and chickens. You can purchase specially prepared animal food from the gift shop too, which made meeting the animals even more exciting for the kids.
There are almost 18 acres of gardens to explore, with ponds, waterfalls and beautiful views towards the Glass House Mountains. Just keep in mind that there are unfenced water features throughout the gardens, so little ones need to be closely supervised.
Prams are allowed, including inside Bird World, although some parts of the gardens are quite steep and Bird World has gravel underfoot. If you have tired toddlers, lots of bags or simply want to make getting around easier, hiring a golf buggy is definitely worth considering.
If you add Bird World to your visit, the guided experience takes you through the walk through aviaries with more than 600 native and exotic birds. Tours run several times throughout the day and take approximately 50 minutes.
There’s also a café near reception serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pastries, snacks and other meals, with plenty of picnic spots throughout the gardens if you want to make a day of it.
We visited June 2026. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World’s website or social media for current pricing, opening hours and tour availability before visiting.
