There is so much to do here, with a designated swimming area, shaded playground, BBQs and picnic tables, a boardwalk and bush walks to explore. We took a picnic and spent our time moving between the playground, boardwalk and trails, and it was such a beautiful family day out.

We took the pram and my little one’s balance bike, but a hot tip if you’re planning on doing the small loop trail, I wouldn’t recommend taking wheels. There is a steep incline, and I somehow ended up pushing a pram, a balance bike AND two kids!

There are more than 9km of trails around Ewen Maddock Dam, although not all are suitable for wheels. The main multi use trail allows bikes, while the boardwalk and narrower walking tracks near Maddock Park are for walking only.

There’s also a designated swimming area with a sandy beach, but there are no lifeguards, so you’ll need to keep a close eye on little ones around the water.

We visited in the cooler months, but I’d definitely pack the bug spray if you’re heading there when it’s warmer.

We visited August 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking Seqwater’s website or social media before visiting.
