I went to Cooroy State School a long time ago, so bringing my own kids back for Little Possums was a bit of a walk down memory lane.

The playgroup is held in the Prep area and was set up beautifully with so many different activities for both bubs and toddlers. When we visited during Harmony Week, the activities followed the theme, with plenty for the kids to move between throughout the morning.

Little ones can explore the outdoor play area and sandpit, while inside there are craft tables, sensory activities, playdough and plenty of toys. There’s also snack and story time followed by music and movement.

If you’re like me and love a bit of structure, you’ll appreciate that the program for the morning is displayed when you arrive, so you know what to expect. I also loved that the Prep Teacher Aide, Tracey, used songs as prompts when it was time to move from one part of the morning to the next.

It’s a lovely way to introduce little ones to a school environment while they play, explore and meet other kids, and it gives mums and carers a chance to connect too.

Make sure you bring morning tea along for your little one.

We visited March 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking Cooroy State School’s website or social media before visiting.
