We visited one morning with the whole family, including grandparents, aunty and the cousins, and our little ones had such a great time. They managed to walk the whole way to the falls themselves, although the uphill walk back was definitely a different story and ended with a few shoulder rides!

We took the Picnic Creek Circuit towards the falls, and at toddler pace it took us around 40 minutes to walk from the car park to the rock pools, then roughly the same amount of time to make our way back. I had bub strapped to me for the walk, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend bringing a pram.

It had rained the day before our visit, and while we didn’t find the track slippery, the water was brown and very cold. That didn’t stop some of our family from going for a swim though!

This one can get really busy, so arriving early made a huge difference for us. We started around 7am when the car park was empty, and by the time we returned around 9:30am it was completely full.

If you’re planning to swim, make sure you pay attention to the conditions and all safety signage around the rock pools and falls. There are steep drops and slippery rocks throughout the area, so you’ll want to keep little ones close.

We visited January 2025. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking the Queensland Parks website or social media before visiting.
