This walk felt like a proper little adventure for the kids, with plenty to spot along the way before reaching the old railway tunnel.
The tunnel was definitely the highlight for us and made the walk feel that little bit different from our usual nature adventures. It gets very dark inside, so bringing a torch for the kids makes it even more fun. The tunnel is also home to seasonal roosting microbats, so it’s important to explore quietly and avoid disturbing them.
The track is shared by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, so it’s worth keeping an eye out as you explore. We found it manageable with the pram, although there were some sandy and rocky sections along the way.
We loved Jessica’s idea of bringing a scavenger hunt along too. It was such a simple way to keep our little explorers engaged and gave them something else to look for along the way.
If you’re looking for a walk that feels like a proper little adventure rather than just another path, this is such a fun one to know about.
We visited August 2026. While we do our best to keep our listings up to date, information can change. We recommend checking Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service for current park alerts before visiting.
