We started this beautiful bush walk from the entrance at the corner of Bareki Street and Coongarra Esplanade. The full circuit is around 3.8km, but we chose to walk to the beach and back, which was the perfect distance for us with little ones.
At toddler pace, with plenty of stops to explore along the way, it took us around 40 minutes to reach the beach and only 20 minutes to get back with the kids in the pram. The track is mostly pram friendly, with a few sandy and narrow sections, but we found it very manageable. My little ones took their magnifying glasses and loved stopping to look at all the plants and flowers along the way.
The first section is bitumen and leads to a lovely lookout with a seat. From there, the track changes to sand and dirt and really feels like you’ve escaped into the middle of nature.
Popping out onto the beach at the end was such a beautiful finish. We returned the same way via the heath trail, but there is another route that takes you out to a pathway and back towards the starting point if you want to make more of a loop.
It’s such a peaceful little adventure for families wanting to get out into nature, with the beach waiting for you at the end.
