10 Sunshine Coast Spots for Families You Might Not Know

The Sunshine Coast has its famous favourites, but tucked between them are so many gems that even long-time locals (like us) are still discovering. From cafés with play areas to rainforest walks and pump tracks, these spots are great for families. If you’re looking to mix up your family adventures, add these to your list.

Here are 10 not-so-well-known Sunshine Coast favourites worth exploring:

Sundial Park, Tewantin – A great pump track perfect for scooter and bike-loving kids looking to burn some energy.

Fairhill Native Botanic Gardens, Ninderry – A beautiful nursery with leafy pathways, a kid-friendly vibe and a lovely café for lunch.

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Maleny – A stunning rainforest loop, interactive discovery centre and cafe, for a fun morning out. Don’t forget to ask about their junior ranger kits. 

Messy Glow Co, Buddina – A glowing UV paint room where every wall becomes a canvas and kids (and you) can go wild with creativity, with zero clean-up for you.

Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary, Bli Bli – With an interactive information centre and a beautiful boardwalk through mangroves and forest, filled with birds, crabs and hidden nature moments.

Currimundi Lake Conservation Walk, Currimundi – A peaceful lakeside trail with sandy edges that ends at the beach. 

Queensland Air Museum, Caloundra – A fascinating collection of planes and aviation history that kids can get up close to and explore.

Sugar Bag Road Park & Pump Track, Caloundra – A go-to for riders of all ages, with jumps, trails and a great pump track plus a fully fenced playground.

Mum Hub x Elate, Corbould Park – A brand truly kid friendly space with a cafe and play area where little ones can play while you enjoy a coffee and bite to eat.

White Ridge Farm, Elimbah – Meet friendly animals, enjoy tractor rides and soak up a little farm magic.

These spots are our favourites because we’ve discovered them as we venture out on the Sunshine Coast with our little ones, seeking to find locations that not everyone knows about, but probably should.
